Cameron Bancroft’s BBL14 is over after he fractured his shoulder and nose following a horror collision with teammate Daniel Sams in the Thunder’s win over the Scorchers.

The Thunder confirmed the extent of Bancroft’s injuries on Saturday following the Thunder’s win over the Scorcher’s on Friday night, while also adding that Sams had sustained a concussion and will be “managed in a return to play process as per Cricket Australia protocols”.
The Sydney Thunder pulled off a miracle four-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers, but their victory was marred by a sickening collision between duo Sams and Bancroft.
Play was halted for more than 10 minutes as medical staff rushed to the injured Thunder teammates.
Both men were tracking a high ball in the 16th over of the first innings when they clashed heads and fell to the Optus Stadium turf.
Sams showed immediate signs of a concussion and needed to be carted off with players frantically flagging paramedics after the incident.
The Thunder later confirmed both players were concussed, but they were alert and talking when taken to hospital.

“There’s been a horrendous collision,” Mel Jones said on commentary for Fox Cricket.
“There’s concern here.
“Both players fully committed to the ball, eyes on it. Didn’t see each other coming.
“This is what you don’t want to see.
“Medical staff out there immediately. The major concern is around Daniel Sams.
“Good signs there as it’s Cam Bancroft on his feet actually walking off the ground.
“Looks like some damage done to his nose.
“Such courage – it was all eyes on the ball for both of them.”
Without their injured teammates, David Warner (49 off 33) got the visitors going before Sherfane Rutherford (39* off 19) got the Thunder home off the final ball for one of the best victories in club history.
Under 19s captain Hugo Weibgen was at the crease for the winning runs – as a concussion replacement in remarkable scenes. Ollie Davies – who was initially left at the team hotel due to illness – was rushed to the ground mid-match to bat in place of the injured Sams.
The Thunder had needed 15 off the final over, and Rutherford took Andrew Tye to task to claim victory off the final ball.
Earlier, it was Finn Allen (68 off 31) who got the Scorchers off to a flyer.
But three quick wickets to Chris Green halted the home side’s progress in front of a record home and away crowd of more than 46,000 at Perth Stadium.
Chasing 177 for victory, Warner survived a controversial LBW review as he helped steer the Thunder into second on the BBL ladder.
