A testy Des Hasler was in no mood to blame the officials for his side’s upset loss to the Rabbitohs despite being on the wrong end of a controversial no-call.
Hasler wasn’t interested in the slightest in deflecting from his team’s inconsistent showing, even though it appeared the Titans were unlucky not to receive a 79th minute penalty which would have sent the game to golden point.
Titans half Jayden Campbell was collected high in a tackle from Souths lock Jai Arrow, leading commentator Steve Roach to say “he collected him in the chin”.

Campbell played the ball quickly to keep the Titans on the front foot as they attacked the Rabbitohs’ line. Had he stayed down to ask the question of the Bunker, the Titans likely receive a penalty right in front.
“There were times and various parts of the game where we should have put that side away,” Hasler said.
“Ample opportunity to win that game and we didn’t.
“You’re going to ask about the penalties. I don’t care. I’ll let you have an opinion of blokes staying down. I’m not interested.”
Hasler says that simply, the game shouldn’t have come down to a late penalty.
When quizzed further about the officiating, a somewhat heated Hasler didn’t bite.
“You can expect whatever you want but it didn’t happen. It shouldn’t have come down to that to win that game of football,” he said.
“I’m not going to get into hypotheticals, it doesn’t change or do anything.
“I just said that. I think I’ve stated fairly obviously what you need to write and what you need to say.”
