Carlton will sack coach Michael Voss if it loses to West Coast this weekend and falls to 0-5, claims former Collingwood president and long-time AFL heavyweight Eddie McGuire.
The Blues have been under immense pressure during a winless start, which featured an awful loss to lowly Richmond, but then three competitive defeats against finals contenders Hawthorn, Collingwood and the Bulldogs.
It’s still a very worrying trend given the club came into 2025 declaring itself a top-four contender and if it continues Voss, who is contracted until the end of 2026, will find himself in the spotlight.

But McGuire believes the Blues, who have sacked four coaches since 2012, will go back to their old habits and act rashly if they hit a new low and lose to fellow winless side West Coast.
“If Carlton gets beaten by West Coast on the weekend, I think Voss is gone,” McGuire told Nine’s Eddie and Jimmy podcast.
“I know how Carlton behaves.
“I think (Voss) is in a bit of trouble if they get knocked off by West Coast.
“I think Carlton will come out and flog West Coast, by the way.
“I got into trouble. Andy Maher got very upset at me when I said that (Brett Ratten) was gone (in 2012) and Mick Malthouse was in. I knew where Mick was going, you could read the play on it.”
Fellow ex-club president Jeff Kennett believes McGuire’s comments are a nonsense, declaring on Twitter: “anyone suggesting that Michael Voss should or might be replaced as Coach of Carlton if the Blues lose to West Coast this weekend is being disrespectful at best”.
“Have they forgotten we at Hawthorn lost the first 6 games (note: it was five) and went on to play finals.”
