New vision has emerged of Mason Cox’s pre-game encounter with Shane Mumford, with AFL 360 co-hosts Gerard Whateley and Mark Robinson of the belief it vindicates the Pies ruckman.
Cox apologised in a statement on Monday for the incident, saying he should’ve stopped his run-up rather than completing his ruck drill.
In new footage on Monday night, however, the Giants could be seen coming into Cox’s area before the latter opted to complete his final drill.

“I feel like its been misrepresented,” Gerard Whateley said on Monday night.
He said of the incident: “This looks like and it certainly looked like on Saturday night smart alec at its absolute highest, but it’s not really.”
Fellow co-host Mark Robinson agreed, questioning the AFL’s decision to issue Cox and the Pies with a please explain for the incident.
Giants coach Adam Kingsley, appearing on AFL 360, said he wasn’t bothered by the incident.
“I don’t have a gripe with it. I didn’t see it during the game but I’ve seen replays of it,” he said.
“Who would care? It’s one of those ones. Yeah he brushed Mummy and then he sort of had a bit of a laugh I think and then moved on.
“It didn’t really bother us.”
