Dylan Edwards was lucky to avoid being sin binned in the Panthers’ clash with the Roosters, after appearing to take James Tedesco out of play as he was looking to score a try.

Inside the Panthers’ 10-metre zone in the first half, Tedesco kicked through on a pass that bounced on the ground, and was chasing through on his own kick, which went into Penrith’s in-goal area.
Edwards then collided with Tedesco, and the Roosters fullback went to ground.

In the meantime, the Panthers managed to get back in the field of play, with Nathan Cleary finding Paul Alamoti, who was tackled in play before the clock was stopped so the bunker could look at the incident.
The bunker official said: “Dylan Edwards holds his line. There is incidental contact between him and James Tedesco. There’s no foul, we’re playing on.”
Fox League commentators Dan Ginnane and Kevin Walters felt that Edwards should have been sin binned.
“I don’t think penalty try but if that’s a foul, that’s probably sin bin,” Ginnane said.
“I think it’s got to be (a) sin bin,” Walters added.

But the Panthers were allowed to continue their set, with no action taken against Edwards by the match officials.
Adding to the Roosters’ frustration was that, once the Panthers’ set resumed, they received a set restart on the last tackle, and from that new set, Alamoti scored the Panthers’ first try down the other end of the field.
The Panthers secured just their second win of the season at Allianz Stadium, with a 40-12 victory over the Roosters.
The premiers ended a five-game losing streak, getting their title defence back on track.
Alamoti scored a double for Penrith, with Isaiah Papali’i, Blaize Talagi, Edwards and Casey McLean also getting across the stripe.
Daniel Tupou and Robert Toia scored tries for the home side.
