Eels youngster Matt Arthur, son of head coach Brad, was involved in a scary and concerning moment during the first half of Parramatta’s trial game against the Raiders.
Arthur got his head in an awkward position when trying to tackle Raiders forward Peter Taateo, and appeared to be knocked out cold.
Arthur was attended by the medical team for around five minutes before being helped off and groggily walking off the field.

The camera panned to a worried Brad Arthur up in the coaching box while Matt was being treated on the field.
Michael Ennis noted on Fox League that it would be “really difficult” for Arthur to separate his coaching duties and the concern for his son.
“Coach Brad here, but also Dad. It’s a concerning moment,” Ennis said.
“To coach a first grade team and then worry about the welfare of your son. It’d have to be really challenging.
“How can you separate it?
“It’s really difficult. He’d be sitting there now for the remainder of the game concerned about the welfare of his young fella.
“In among that steely Brad Arthur that we see all the time, he’s a very, very proud father.”

Arthur, a dummy-half and member of the 2023 Eels SG Ball premiership winning side, had only just come onto the field in relief of starting hooker Brendan Hands when the incident happened.
Despite the worrying signs early, Fox League’s James Hooper reported that Arthur was OK.
“Positive news out of the Parra sheds,” Hooper said.
“No one enjoyed those scenes of Matt Arthur where he was knocked out cold, but the positive news is that he is up and about, he’s OK, no broken jaw or anything else broken.”
