‘American Splendor’ directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini have more recently been focusing on calling the shots on prestige TV series such as ‘Succession’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building.’
But they’ve now set up a new film project called ‘This is Pleasure’ and, per Variety, have Jessica Chastain and Chris Pine lined up to star.
“The building always wins.”
Air Date: August 31st, 2021
The film will tackle thorny topics of misconduct and truth in a #MeToo world.

What’s the story of ‘This is Pleasure’?

‘Mistresses’ TV writer Nina Raine adapted the script from Mary Gaitskill’s novella, which was hugely acclaimed when it was released in 2019 and praised for offering a nuanced distillation of the #MeToo movement.
The story follows Margot (Chastain) as accusations of misconduct unravel the career of her closest friend, the charming publisher Quin (Pine). Margot must decide whether loyalty, forgiveness or truth will define the end of their long, heady friendship.
When will ‘This is Pleasure’ be on screens?
Even with the star power attached, this one will be a while as it hasn’t yet locked down a distributor. But with the rights up for sale at the European Film Market, which kicks off this month, we’re sure it’ll be snapped up quickly.
