Kim Kardashian is already a major bran unto herself –– spring boarding from wildly successful reality TV series ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ and its various spin-offs, continuations, she’s launched a variety of merchandise lines, particularly in fashion and beauty.

But in terms of other on-screen work, she’s been more limited to cameos as herself or minor roles in projects such as ‘Disaster Movie’ and, more recently, lending her voice as the character of Delores in the two ‘Paw Patrol’ movies.

She’s now looking to extend further into the world of movies and TV, and, according to Deadline, is involved with a new comedy movie pitch that is attracting attention around Hollywood called ‘The 5th Wheel’.

As of right now, the story details are being kept quiet –– none of the reports about the potential new movies have yet emerged, though from the title you’ve got to figure it’ll be a rom-com about someone having trouble in love or finding themselves on the outs with a group of couples.

Who is writing ‘The 5th Wheel’?

The biggest name behind the script for this one is Paula Pell, who first rose to attention writing on ‘Saturday Night Live’. She went from there to keep collaborating with Tina Fey (who was head writer on the show as well as appearing on camera) on ’30 Rock’.

She also wrote the movie ‘Sisters’ (which starred Fey and Amy Poehler), in addition to playing a role in that film. Pell has also worked with the likes of Judd Apatow and lending her voice to Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’.

Her co-writer on ‘The 5th Wheel’ is Janine Brito, who had a small role in ‘Wine Country’ (which also featured Pell), and who has been a writer on shows such as Netflix’s ‘One Day at a Time’ reboot and ‘Mr. Mayor’ (co-created by Fey).

Kardashian scored her biggest and most impactful acting gig to date, stealing scenes as a publicist in the most recent season of FX’s ‘American Horror Story’.

Here’s what she had to say to Variety of taking that leap:

“It’s really fun to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new and grow. It’s a challenge. I like to challenge myself.”

When will ‘The 5th Wheel’ be released?

Given its early stage, the movie does not yet have a release date on the books. Right now, five studios are looking to pick this one up, with a bidding war in progress.
