The Knights moved to offload Brailey to free up money to chase Dylan Brown, who signed for $13 million over 10 years.
Meanwhile, the Raiders face a dummyhalf logjam with Brailey joining Owen Pattie at the club, while incumbent Tom Starling and Danny Levi are fighting for their futures.
Brailey is an interesting signing given he is leaving a club where he is on the bench, to potentially filling the same role at the Raiders.
However, Ricky Stuart likely sees Brailey as a starter and a veteran to help develop Pattie into a star in the coming seasons.
“The Canberra Raiders can confirm the signing of Jayden Brailey on a two-year contract from the commencement of the 2026 season,” the club said in a statement.

Brailey debuted in 2017 for the Sharks and has played a total of 133 NRL matches. He is currently playing for the Knights, where he has made 64 appearances since joining them from the Sharks in 2020.
Raiders NRL Recruitment Manager Joel Carbone said Brailey’s signing gives the Raiders an experienced hooker who is proven at NRL level.
“We’re excited to have Jayden join the club from 2026 and know we have a player coming to us with valuable NRL experience and leadership qualities,” Carbone said.
“We look forward to Jayden joining us in 2026 and wish him the best for the remainder of his time in Newcastle.”
