Jordan Cox, what were you thinking?
The Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper was left red-faced after botching a regulation run out during Saturday evening’s Big Bash League derby against cross-town rivals the Stars at Marvel Stadium.
The Stars were 4-86 in the 14th over when all-rounder Beau Webster, who was on 28 at the time, attempted to steal a quick single, but ended up stranded in the middle of the pitch. Renegades veteran Shaun Marsh retrieved the ball from short third man and underarmed it towards Cox, who inexplicably attempted to whip off the bails with one hand.
The Englishman dropped the Kookaburra, much to the frustration of bowler Adam Zampa, allowing Webster to safely make his ground.

“What is going on?” Pakistan legend Wasim Akram cried on Fox Cricket commentary.
“That’s not on at this level.”
Former Australian batter Mark Waugh continued: “That’s slack … that looks like a TV blooper.
“That’s like the European Cricket League. That’s Romania vs Belgium.
“I don’t know what he was thinking.”
Akram responded: “You should be taking that ball with two hands every time.
“That should be your habit as a keeper, that’s what they teach you as a youngster.”
Thankfully for Cox, the blunder didn’t prove too costly, with spinner Akeal Hosein dismissing Webster the following over caught at long-on by Kane Richardson for 29.
