North Melbourne have been tasked with overcoming a grim seven-year streak to close out Round 9 on Sunday evening, hosting the reigning premiers Brisbane in Hobart at a venue they’ve struggled at greatly in recent times.
The Kangaroos (1-7, 76.4 per cent) have been reeling since their sole Round 2 win this season, and now look a long way away from exiting the dreaded bottom two on the AFL ladder.
Meanwhile the Lions (7-1, 114.4 per cent) will regain top spot at the end of Round 9 with a win over North, with their sole loss for the year coming against Collingwood just over two weeks ago.

Already up against the odds, the hosts will need to buck a losing streak that dates back to 2018 against the Lions. Despite Hobart being their second home also, the Kangaroos have lost 12 of their last 13 games at the venue.
North Melbourne welcome back young gun George Wardlaw, Aidan Corr and Toby Pink, replacing the injured Jackson Archer and dropped duo Kallan Dawson and Will Phillips.
Logan Morris, Kai Lohmann and Darcy Fort all come into the 23 for Brisbane, making their side even stronger from their victorious QClash last week. The trio replace an injured Sam Day and omitted pair Conor McKenna and Will McLachlan.
The first bounce will hit the Ninja Stadium turf at 4:40pm local time in Hobart, with Bailey Scott (Kangaroos) and Darcy Gardiner (Lions) the respective substitutes.
