India won the toss on day two and elected to bowl first, sending openers Matthew Renshaw and Sam Konstas out to face the new pink ball in overcast conditions.
Renshaw fell early, knicking off to Mohammed Siraj at second slip for just five.
Western Australian young gun Jayden Goodwin joined Konstas briefly before being dismissed for four, leaving the PM’s XI 2/22 after 5.5 overs.
But Konstas then took full advantage of his audition as opener, blasting a 51-ball half-century and putting on a century stand with Jack Clayton.
The hit out looms as a great chance for India captain Rohit Sharma and young gun Shubman Gill to spend time out in the middle with the bat before their return to the main side for the second Test in Adelaide this Friday.
