Sandon Smith came off for a HIA after Herbie Farnworth flung him to the ground in an attempted tackle from the Roosters half resulted in his head banging into the turf.
Smith failed his HIA and was ruled out for the game.
A freak flick pass from Siua Wong saw James Tedesco set up Robert Toia for the first try of the night to give the Roosters the lead.
Victor Radley barged over from close range after an assist from Zach Dockar-Clay as the roosters extended their lead.
Toia turned provider with a flick pass of his own to put winger Mark Nawaqanitawase over as the Roosters pushed out to a 14-0 lead.
Isaiya Katoa put up a pinpoint kick for Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to outleap opposite James Tedesco and score to get the Dolphins back in the game.
Dockar-Clay was penalised and placed on replay for a high tackle on Connelly Lemuelu as the Dolphins cut the lead to six at half-time.
After the break Hugo Savala and James Tedesco combined off a scrum to put Nawaqanitawase over for a double as the Roosters restored their advantage.
Savala then put a grubber on a platter for Radley to score a double as the Roosters threatened to run away with it.
Connor Watson then finished off a long-range try set up by Daniel Tupou as the Roosters all but sealed the result with half an hour to play.
Tabuai-Fidow streaked away for a classy double but his consolation try was far too little too late for the Dolphins.
Katoa set up a try for Herbie Farnworth after a mistake from Nawaqanitawase under the high ball to give the Dolphins a sniff at a miracle comeback.

For the Dolphins Felise Kaufusiand Kurt Donoghoe have been ruled out with Mark Nicholls switching to prop and Connelly Lemuelu starting in the back row with Tom Gilbert shifting to lock. Oryn Keeley and Sean O’Sullivan are the new men on the bench. The Roosters are 1-17.
Daniel Saifiti is out with a shoulder injury, while hooker Jeremy Marshall-King has been named to play his first game since suffering a leg gash following the Round 6 win over the Panthers.
Trent Robinson has made no changes to his 17 after the win over the Dragons, with, Dom Young missing for the second straight game.
