Jarome Luai had the ultimate brain fade in the Panthers’ clash with the Eels on Friday night with the star five-eighth put on report for tripping Mitchell Moses.
Penrith were up 12-6 in a thrilling start to the game when Luai rushed out of the line and stuck his foot out to trip Moses.

The Eels halfback fell flat on his stomach but was able to quickly regather his feet and run for 20 metres to “turn nothing into something,” as commentator Dan Ginnane said.
But as Moses was tackled referee Ashley Klein blew his whistle and went back
“We’re getting some sort of trip signal from Ashley Klein… well spotted,” Ginnane said.
Expert analyst Cooper Cronk agreed saying it was “well picked up by the officials,” while Ginnane added it was a “brilliant play” by Moses to recover.
The Eels capitalised off the penalty as Shaun Lane scored two tackles later.
It was the second time Luai was placed on report in the opening half.
Earlier, he was penalised and put on report for a swinging arm on Eels’ Bailey Simonsson, who then failed a HIA.
