Mac Andrew has extended his stay at the Gold Coast after agreeing to what is reportedly the richest deal in AFL history.
The Suns confirmed on Wednesday night that Andrew has signed a five-year contract extension that will see him remain with the club until the end of 2030, making him the longest-contracted player on their list.

Earlier, News Corp’s Callum Dick revealed in an exclusive report that Andrew had agreed to a mammoth deal that could be worth as much as $12 million over nine years.
Andrew was already contracted until the end of 2025, so this new deal will only really kick in at the start of the 2026 season and should he hit a games clause, it will then trigger another four seasons according to Morris.
That would surpass the $10 million over nine years that Lance Franklin agreed to sign with Sydney on.
The Herald Sun’s Lauren Wood described it as a “huge statement” while Glen McFarlane said it was “the most significant signing for the Gold Coast since Gary Ablett”.
“There were clubs coming for him everywhere,” McFarlane said.
“Damian Hardwick was so excited about the toys at the Gold Coast that he really wanted. This isn’t just the toys. This is getting a hold of Santa’s sack three months before Christmas. How good is this for the Gold Coast.”
That was despite Hawthorn showing interest in Andrew, according to AFL Media’s Callum Twomey.
Speaking to the Suns’ official website, Andrew said he was excited by the prospect of helping take the Gold Coast to its first flag.
“I love everything about this place. I’ve made a home for myself up here and have a great support base here,” Andrew said.
“I’m really keen to be a part of the first team that wins a premiership on the Coast. To be the first to do that would be pretty special and something I really want to be a part of.
“It’s pretty evident we are heading in the right direction and I just want to play my role in what will be something great.
“I don’t want to take my career for granted, I really want to make the most of it and grab every opportunity with both hands.”

Meanwhile, Suns general manager of player talent and strategy Craig Cameron said Andrew had quickly become an “integral member” of the club.
“He has worked hard to improve his game and we look forward to continuing to see his development in the red and gold for at least the next six years,” Cameron said.
“He is the latest in a wave of players to commit to our club and pleasingly we now have a number of our key pillars locked in for the years to come.”
