Dual premiership winning coach Michael Maguire has poured cold water on any rumours linking him to the England job.
Maguire is currently in the UK on a personal development tour. According to CODE Sports, Maguire’s presence in the country has “fuelled speculation” the RFL will reach out to the Broncos mentor to gauge his interest in replacing England coach Shaun Wane.

England were soundlty beaten 3-0 in the recent Ashes series and Wane’s job security is under severe pressure ahead of next year’s Rugby League World Cup.

However, despite Maguire’s success at international level with the Kiwis, he dismissed any notion he’d consider coaching England at this stage of his career.
“No chance,” Maguire told CODE Sports.
“We have a big season ahead. That’s my focus.
“You have to keep your head down and keep working and that is part of what I love doing with my players.
“The growth I saw this year with our group has been excellent and the other 16 teams will be hungry to knock us off next season.”
Maguire will be aiming to go back-to-back in his first two seasons with the Broncos.
He will head back to the UK early next year to essentially begin Brisbane’s 2026 campaign when the Broncos take on the Hull Kingston Rovers in the World Club Challenge.

Phoenix Steinwede, the stepson of the recently retired Kieran Foran, has received a train-and-trial deal with one of Foran’s former clubs.
The Titans have signed the 23-year-old to a prove it deal, with Steinwede eyeing off a potential NRL debut next year.
Steinwede, the son of Foran’s wife Karina, is a Roosters junior who captained the club’s Jersey Flegg team.
He moved up to the Gold Coast with his family and linked up with QLD Cup team Tweed Heads.
Now, Steinwede has been given the chance to impress the Titans’ coaching staff this pre-season and if he does, he could force his way onto the club’s roster for 2026.
Gehamat Shibasaki is the latest player to turn a train-and-trial deal into a success story. This time last year, the Broncos star’s career was in limbo before Michael Maguire took a flyer on him.
“I had a good conversation with Josh (Hannay) and he’s all about hard work. He said just be professional, roll in, work hard every day and you’ll see results,” Steinwede told CODE Sports.
.“I’m just putting my head down, working as hard as I can and making the best connections I can.”
Steinwede certainly has inspiration for this next phase of his rugby league journey. His brother Logan died suddenly in 2023.
The aspiring NRL forward spoke about Foran’s role in the wake of a famil tragedy and how Logan’s death has reignited a desire to try and crack first grade.
“I look at him (Foran) as a father figure, but the way he is in my corner and the way he goes about life for us kids, he sort of feels like your best mate,” Steinwede said.
“It gave me a purpose and something to strive for, especially being able to do it for myself and him (Logan).
“I know he would want it for me instead of me sitting around trying to understand why.”
