Members of Parliament’s Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) will travel to Taipei to gain firsthand insight into Taiwan’s “whole-of-society” approach to countering hybrid threats, foreign interference and disinformation. MEPs will hold in-depth discussions with key government officials, legislators, think tanks, civil society organisations and media representatives during their three-day visit.
The mission aims to foster the exchange of best practice in countering hybrid threats and strengthening societal resilience, while enhancing EU-Taiwan cooperation. It will feed directly into the EUDS Committee’s upcoming report and help shape EU policies aimed at protecting European democracy in the face of similar threats.
EUDS Chair and delegation head Nathalie Loiseau (Renew, FR) will be accompanied by Tomáš Zdechovský (EPP, CZ), Michał Wawrykiewiczv (EPP, PL), Kathleen Van Brempt (S&D, BE), Markéta Gregorová (Greens/EFA, CZ), and Engin Eroglu (Renew, DE), in his capacity as Chair of the Delegation for relations with the People’s Republic of China.
