The Bangladesh Cricket Board is investigating a potential match-fixing incident during Wednesday’s Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Gulshan and Shinepukur at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Part of Bangladesh’s premier List A competition, Gulshan won the contest by five runs after the controversial stumping of Shinepukur wicketkeeper Minhajul Abedin, who had stepped out of crease and left the ball.

During the run chase, Shinepukur needed six runs to win from 43 balls with one wicket in hand when Abedin, unbeaten on eight at the time having faced 34 deliveries, charged at Gulshan spinner Naeem Islam and left a wide delivery.
The 27-year-old spun around and grounded his bat outside the crease before seemingly dragging the willow further away from safety. Gulshan gloveman Alif Hasan, having failed to dislodge the bails on his first attempt, completed the stumping to end the match and seal victory.
Shinepukur was bowled out for 173 in 43 overs, with the five-run defeat confirming their relegation to the competition’s second division.
“This is shocking,” commentator Mazhar Uddin Omi said.
“I have never seen anything like this before.”
Later on Wednesday, the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis confirmed it has informed the BCB’s anti-corruption body about the incident.
“We saw the footage. It was the last dismissal of the day. This sort of thing is usually the match referee’s responsibility,” CCDM league coordinator Sabbir Ahmed said, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
“We are aware of the TV umpire sitting next to him also, so they must have studied the footage. They are supposed to give a report on the incident.”
On Thursday, the BCB’s anti-corruption officials and the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League’s technical committee confirmed they were investigating the incident.
“The BCB wishes to reiterate its firm commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and maintaining the highest ethical standards in cricket,” the BCB said in a statement.
“The Board has a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption or misconduct that may compromise the spirit of the sport. The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit and the League’s Technical Committee have promptly initiated an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with the match.
“The BCB remains committed to ensuring fairness and discipline in all cricketing activities under its jurisdiction and will take the necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation.”
