Topping off an unthinkable upset to begin Round 1 was a jaw-dropping celebration that American gymnast Simone Biles “would’ve been happy with”, according to Fox Footy’s Mark Howard.

With his side seven points ahead with under a minute before he final siren, Tigers youngster Seth Campbell kicked the sealer to clear all sealers. Sprinting deep inside his forward 50, the 22-gamer passed Blues defender Lachie Cowan to sneak his side to an unassailable lead that only 70 minutes beforehand looked genuinely impossible.
As Campbell’s ‘Tiger Army’ roared at the realisation they were leaving the MCG winners, the forward provided one of the game’s greatest ever goal celebrations — in what was arguably the eye-catching moment that signalled a new era at Punt Road.
“I’ve never seen that on a footy field before,” modern era great Eddie Betts said post-game, before interviewing the 20-year-old livewire.
“We competed all game, and I just needed to put that one last effort in … it probably sealed the game,” Campbell told Fox Footy as Richmond’s club song roared in the background.

“Last year, we (weren’t) in many situations to do it, so I didn’t really want to pull it out… but that was a situation that I could do it.”
The whirlwind celebration came after his second goal for the night, off the back of his eighth and final disposal. Campbell’s forward pressure was on display all evening, finishing with seven tackles — two of which were inside forward 50.
“I don’t think anyone in the MCG was sitting in their seat at that time,” Fox Footy host Sarah Jones said of Campbell’s celebration post-game.
Heading into Thursday night, the Tigers had won only one of their last five matches against Carlton.
