Aaron Cadman has ensured there’ll be no season of speculation about his AFL future after the 2022 No.1 draft pick signed a new deal at the GWS Giants.
Plus one of the top soon-to-be free agents is off the market with Geelong superstar Tom Stewart penning a long-term extension.
Cadman, 19, was one of the rare top picks to enter his second season without a contract extension, after being part of the final AFL draft class to only sign a two-year deal upon being selected.

But the Victorian has added two years to his existing deal and will remain at the Giants until the end of 2026.
The key forward kicked six goals in a debut 12-game season, failing to appear at AFL level after Round 20, as the Giants made a run to the preliminary finals but was talked up by coach Adam Kingsley earlier this month.
“He’s a massive part of our future … I think he complements who we have up (forward) at the moment, and I see him in years to come taking over and being the man,” Kingsley said.

Meanwhile the Cats have ensured five-time All-Australian defender Stewart won’t be going anywhere.
At the club’s annual general meeting they revealed the two-time best-and-fairest winner had committed to a three-year extension, tying him down until the end of 2027.
“I am humbled and grateful to the Geelong Football Club for the opportunity to pull on the Hoops week in, week out,” Stewart said.
“Ever since I walked into the club, everyone has been so supportive of me, and I can’t thank the playing group, coaching staff and wider organisation enough for all the time and effort they have not just put into my journey, but to everyone lucky enough to pull on the Hoops.
“The future at the Cats is so bright and to be able to be on that journey with so many exciting young players and experienced heads is something I am really looking forward to and we all can’t wait to crack into 2024 and continue to give our all for this footy club.”
Stewart is just seven seasons into his career, after being picked up as a mature-ager with the No.40 selection in the 2016 draft.
