Another member of the Luai family is set to turn out for the Tigers, with Jarome’s brother Calvary earning selection in Balmain’s under 19s SG Ball squad.
Calvary is reportedly a talented centre, having played a starring role for St Marys Saints in the under 17s Don Feltis Cup, helping his side to a premiership.
His club coach, Darren Leary, explained the younger brother of the Tigers’ marquee star has been working diligently to earn a spot in representative squads.

“He’s a quiet achiever. He keeps his head down and gets the job done. A totally different player to Jarome,” Leary said to Zero Tackle.
“Calvary’s just that guy that does it on the football field. He’s a very strong centre who takes a lot of carries and lights up the field. I don’t think he has unlocked his full potential yet.
“Last year he was very unlucky not to make rep footy but this year he worked twice as hard, working on his fitness, working on his skills and is finally reaping the rewards.
“This wasn’t due to his brother or anything, and people might say that, but he’s earned this and if he gets the right people to point him in the right direction to guide him, he can be anything.”
Leary also explained the budding star makes “great defensive reads” and does not shy away from making the “tough carries”.
The move comes after Jarome revealed he had “no intention” to activate a get-out clause in his contract that makes him a free agent in 2026.
Luai signed a five-year $6 million deal with the Tigers that doesn’t expire until 2029 — which includes clauses for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

However, after his debut season under Benji Marshall, the gun playmaker has revealed he is in for the long haul.
“The clauses at the end of the day are for security and to hold people accountable,” Luai told Code Sports.
“The Tigers haven’t had the best track record in the past, so I think my manager did a great job securing the deal that I have now.
“I think I have shown I am fully committed to the Tigers and to my team. Hopefully, I have shown where I stand with my actions.”
