Teams that score a try could be forced to kick off in what would be the biggest rule change in the NRL since the six-again introduction in 2021.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the NRL is seriously considering a shift in which team restarts play after a try in an effort to reduce the scoring teams momentum and make games more entertaining next season.
As the review of the season continues, the governing body is reaching out to the clubs and fans for their opinions.

The feedback along with the NRL’s research will help decide whether tweaking the kick off could make matches more competitive by evening out possession. The potential change would
mirror the NFL model where the scoring team kicks off.
Additionally, the NRL is set to tighten its stance on how long trainers can stay on the field. The current rules allow blue trainers to deliver instructions and water during their teams attacking sets but only until the fourth tackle and no more than three times each half.
Orange trainers can also enter to provide water during play but the rule has sparked some confusion and is proven hard to enforce.

Pressure for change comes after multiple recent incidents, most notably last season when a Penrith trainer obstructed Titan Jayden Campbell during a conversion.
The growing committee will also look at ways to discourage players from milking penalties, a tactic that has increasingly annoyed fans.

Additionally, they will examine how aerial contests are adjudicated and how sin bins and send-offs are applied, aiming to prevent isolated indiscretions from shaping a game’s outcome.
These proposed changes remain under discussion as the NRL continues to improve fairness, maintain the pace of the game, and enhance overall entertainment for fans.
