But the Tigers have struck back through star signing Terrell May who bullied his way over from close range to lock up the scores.
The sides then traded tries between fullbacks Jahream Bula and Isaiah Iongi and it’s 10-10 in the second half at a heaving Commbank Stadium.

Benji reacts to Galvin’s NSW Cup debut | 01:27
The Wests Tigers have endured one of the most tumultuous weeks in club history but they can put it behind them with a win over the Eels in their annual Easter Monday clash.
Benji Marshall axed Lachlan Galvin after the 19-year-old’s bombshell announcement that he’d be leaving the club, which means Adam Doueihi slots into the halves to partner Jarome.
Brent Naden returns from a knee injury in the centres, having played NSW Cup last week, but Jeral Skelton (hamstring) is out which sees young gun Luke Laulilii come onto the wing.
Benji Marshall has made a change to his bench with Royce Hunt a late scratching which sees Tony Sukkar come into the side and Heath Mason is the new 18th Man.
Parramatta welcome back their favourite son Mitchell Moses (foot) who has been named to play his first game of the 2025 season.
Eels winger Josh Addo-Carr said they’re preparing for an Origin-like intensity with Moses back in the side against his former club at Commbank Stadium.
“It’s a breath of fresh air to have him back. He shows his leadership in steering the big boys around and everything flows off the back of him,” said Addo-Carr, who will reunite with Moses at club level for the first time since they played nine games together for the Tigers back in 2016.
“The energy lifts, it’s his leadership and knowledge of the game. Especially for the younger boys. He’s a freak.
“It’s disappointing he didn’t get to start the season, we’ve got him back now and it’s raising the bar at training, but having our head honcho back it helps all of that.
Tigers prop Jack Williams also makes a timely return from a knee injury, while Kelma Tuilagi has been named in the back row, with Shaun Lane dropping out.
In further big changes, Matt Doorey and Luca Moretti have been added to the bench while Joe Ofahengaue, Ryan Matterson and Charlie Guymer have dropped out.
