A public inquest into the death of former Sea Eagles player Keith Titmuss will reportedly be held in February.

The SMH is reporting the NSW Coroner’s Court has planned a five-day investigation into Titmuss’ death which occurred after a pre-season session in late 2020.

The 20-year-old collapsed during the sessions and died on November 23, 2020 with an initial report unable to identify what caused his tragic death.

Former teammates and staff are expected to be spoken to and former coach Des Hasler could also reportedly be interviewed.

Police detectives have already reportedly interviewed players who took part in the session and club staff before it was announced the inquest would take place.

The full scope of the events that led to Titmuss’ death are set to be investigated, having been taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital before he was pronounced dead.

“The inquest has been listed for a five-day hearing before His Honour Deputy State Coroner Derek Lee at the NSW Coroner’s Court, Lidcombe, from February 5 to February 9, 2024,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

During the detective’s investigation various medial experts were requested to hand down statements, while Titmuss’ family were also tested for any genetic links related to his death.

Former Manly teammates Josh Schuster and Jason Saab as well as Stefano Utoikamanu and Matt Doorey were also interviewed.

The Sea Eagles posthumously named Titmuss as their 623rd first grade player in November 2020.

The inquest will be held only weeks before the Sea Eagles travel to Las Vegas for the 2024 season opener.
