Ten years since Lampedusa shipwreck
Tomorrow will be ten years since the Lampedusa shipwreck of 2013, and at midday Parliament will mark the tragic loss of over 360 women, men and children, the President said.
Death of Giorgio Napolitano
President Metsola expressed her condolences to the family of Giorgio Napolitano, former President of Italy, who died on 22 September. A fervent supporter of a strong Italy in Europe, he was a former MEP (1989-1992 and 1999-2004), who also chaired Parliament’s Constitutional Affairs Committee.
President Metsola led MEPs in a minute of silence to remember him.

One round of political groups’ speakers will follow the statement by the President before the beginning of the votes to mark the 10-year commemoration since the tragedy in Lampedusa.

Request by several committees to start negotiations with Council and Commission
Decisions by committees to enter into inter-institutional negotiations (Rule 71) are published on the plenary website.
If no request for a vote in Parliament on the decision to enter into negotiations is made by Tuesday 12.00 midnight, the committees may start negotiations.
