Oscar Piastri is an absolute savage.
The 22-year-old from Melbourne has proven his remarkable ability on the track since cracking the F1 with McLaren, but, particularly when compared to fellow Aussie Daniel Ricciardo, can be somewhat dry in front of camera.
But like the rest of Gen Z, the young gun has shown once again he can troll with the best of them on social media.

Ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, Piastri filmed a social media promotion with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon where the pair raced remote control versions of their F1 vehicles on the Suzuka track.
Posting on Instagram, Alpine captioned a photo of the two, writing: “Warming up for Suzuka, with RC Cars action @estebanocon @oscarpiastri.”
But Piastri couldn’t help himself, responding: “@alpinef1team had my permission for this post” followed by a winky face, a comment which had over 18,000 likes at the time of writing with fans losing it at the post.
For those who don’t remember, Piastri came into F1 as an Alpine junior but after winning F3 and F2 in consecutive seasons, the young Aussie was forced to sit out a season to wait for an F1 drive.
In 2022, Fernando Alonso shocked the F1 world when he announced he’d be moving from Alpine to Aston Martin.
It saw Alpine then announce Piastri would be promoted to a race seat alongside Ocon from 2023.
But if the Alonso news was shocking, Piastri dropped a bomb when he responded to the Alpine promotion, writing: “I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year.
“This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.”
The move saw McLaren shaft Ricciardo with a year left on his deal to sign Piastri after a long-drawn out saga.
While Piastri’s season didn’t start perfectly as McLaren suffered early issues, he’s been more than impressive in papaya and currently sits ahead of teammate Lando Norris in fifth on the 2024 driver standings.
He also became only the sixth driver in history to claim a win in his debut season when he won the Qatar Grand Prix sprint race, as well as becoming the first driver since Lewis Hamilton in 2007 to claim two podiums in his rookie season.
Fans absolutely lost it for his cheeky swipe on Instagram with comments including “no, you did not”, another calling it “iconic” and hundreds more laughing along with the brilliant piece of content.
In a rain-soaked FP2 in Japan on Friday, Piastri set the fastest time after FP1 was cut short by a red flag when Williams’ Logan Sargeant crashed.
Suzuka was the location Piastri claimed his first F1 podium last year.
