Australia’s Oscar Piastri will be gunning for pole position in qualifying in Miami to give him the best possible chance of picking up a fourth win of the season, and extending his lead in the driver’s championship.
Piastri’s teammate Lando Norris took bragging rights in the sprint race earlier in the day, but McLaren would have been delighted of gaining a one-two finish in the race that was delayed by 25 minutes due to torrential rain.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton finished third in the sprint race so he will be one to watch, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen will no doubt come out with added determination after finishing 17th in the sprint race courtesy of a 10-second penalty for contact on Kimi Antonelli, who started the sprint race in pole, in pit-lane.
