Port Adelaide star Connor Rozee has signed an eight-year contract extension and been appointed club captain on a landmark day for the 23-year-old.
The Power confirmed on Monday that Rozee, a dual All-Australian, had signed on until at least the end of 2032 and would replace the retired Tom Jonas as the club’s captain, meaning he’ll wear the number one guernsey in 2024.
Rozee was set to come out of contract in 2024 but his recommitment continues the re-signing streak the Power have been on, with Zak Butters recently penning a two-year extension.

Butters was announced as the vice-captain, while Sam Powell-Pepper, Dan Houston and Willem Drew were part of the larger leadership group.
Rozee’s deal makes he and Western Bulldogs spearhead Aaron Naughton the players with the longest contracts in the league.
The signing was a source of bemusement for Fox Footy analyst David King, who noted his SEN co-host – Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes – is strongly against clubs signing players to long-term deals.
“Can you call you know who and tell him please,” King wrote in reference to AFL Media’s news of Rozee’s pending deal.
In 2022, Rozee won the club’s best and fairest award and has been selected in the All-Australian side in back-to-back seasons.
He and Zak Butters have thrived with a more permanent move into the midfield, with both members of the 2018 draft class.
Port Adelaide qualified for the top four in 2023, but were bundled out of the finals series in straight sets.
The club has embarked on a trading spree this off-season, with Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher among the acquisitions.
