Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka proved she’s up for anything on night one of the Australian Open, pulled into a bizarre post-match dance during her interview with Jelena Dokic.
The Belarusian was celebrating a straight-sets win over Sloane Stephens when Dokic quickly took the interview in a unique direction.
The former Aussie tennis star asked Sabalenka about her TikTok dance videos, which she often records with her team on the training court.
“You always dance but there’s no one in the crowd – I have an idea,” Dokic said.
Sabalenka immediately looked embarrassed but declared: “Only if the whole crowd will join!”
Safe to say they didn’t, but Dokic got in on the grooving as the pair improvised some moves to a random track.
Neither woman was exactly a Hirai Momo-level performer, with Sabalenka quipping: “Now they have proof that I’m the worst dancer.”
Dokic responded: I didn’t know how this was going to go so I think we’re going to go viral. I hope it’s for all the right things … that was good. But I have to go to the physio.”
We can only hope John McEnroe and Novak Djokovic similarly get down and boogie later in the tournament.
