MIDFIELDER WANTS BLUES MOVE
Unsigned Eagles ball-winner Campbell Chesser has requested a trade to Carlton, per AFL Media’s Nathan Schmook.
West Coast is said to have offered the 22-year-old a two-year deal, but the regional Victorian product desires a move to the Blues.
Nine’s Tom Morris added via X: “Carlton sees Campbell Chesser as a best 22 player. The Blues have a two-year deal on the table for him.”
Chesser has had an inauspicious start to his career after being picked at no.14 overall in 2021, and after playing 18 games in 2024, he appeared just four times at senior level this season amid a nagging ankle injury.
However, his four matches were the Eagles’ last four to close their the season, averaging a career-best 16.8 disposals and 3.0 inside-50s to string together some promising form at the back end of the campaign.
Athleticism and ball use were said to be what appeal most to the Blues about Chesser, who also reportedly attracted some interest from Essendon.
Given the 36-gamer is a non-free agent, the Blues and Eagles will have to come to terms on a trade.
“I spoke to him the other day about how difficult a position it is when you’re a player that’s out of contract and you haven’t had much opportunity,” Eagles coach Andrew McQualter said before the club’s final game of the season.
“You need a lot of grit to be able to put your focus towards what’s important and he’s done a great job with that.
“I think we’ve all seen the last three weeks what we were hoping we would see from Campbell as a player, and he’s got a really exciting future with our football club.”
In terms of other potential additions, Carlton has been linked to delisted West Coast speedster Jack Petruccelle.

DOCKER KNOCKS BACK INTEREST TO STAY LOYAL
Young gun Neil Erasmus has rejected considerable rival interest to stay put at Fremantle and is set to sign a three-year deal at the club in coming days.
7News Perth’s Ryan Daniels reported on Monday afternoon that the 21-year-old will stay at Cockburn until at least the end of 2028, as clubs such as the Western Bulldogs and cross-town rivals West Coast expressed interest in the outside midfielder.
Erasmus played a career-high 16 matches at senior level this year, three of which were at the starting substitute.
He was dropped at multiple points throughout the season but gritted his way back into the side through the WAFL at Peel Thunder.
Erasmus was one of Fremantle’s best in their heartbreaking one-point loss to Gold Coast in last Saturday’s elimination final at Optus Stadium.
Given the retirements of Nat Fyfe, Michael Walters and Quinton Narkle, the Dockers look set to make few changes to their list this off-season.
