Broc Feeney’s redemption tour has started with a bang in Sydney, claiming the first Supercars race win of the year just three months after his title heartbreak.
The Triple Eight star claimed the team’s first Ford win since 2009 after transitioning from the Camaro that took Feeney heartbreakingly close to championship success in 2025.

It was Red Bull Racing’s faster pit stop that gifted Feeney the jump on Blanchard Racing Team duo James Golding and Aaron Cameron who had locked out the front row earlier on Friday.
And Feeney capitalised from there to run out with his first race win of 2026 in the 100km dash at Sydney Motorsport Park.
“I remembered how to drive which is a good thing!” Feeney said after his win.
“To join Ford once again and get the first win – that’s a dream come true.
“This is an unreal start to our second life at Ford.”
Telling Fox Motorsport that “hopefully everyone can stop talking … and we can move on” from the 2025 championship disaster in Adelaide last November, Feeney said he was “stoked” to carry on his great form.
“I had the faith coming here this weekend – the first time I drove this car I was quietly confident,” he shared.
“Just to come here and execute, the team did a great job for me to get in the lead there.
“To get out in front was great and we could manage the race.
“Two more to go.”
Cameron and Golding would end up finishing in second and third to secure a double podium for BRT.
Earlier in the race it was Shell V-Racing’s Brodie Kostecki who picked up the first penalty of the year after a bump and run on Zach Bates, while Cooper Murray was the only driver not to finish with steering failure forcing him into a Lap 8 retirement.
“Broc Feeney looks ominous to me,” Garth Tander praised.
“Once he got the race lead, he just managed it beautifully.”
Qualifying for race two begins at 3.40pm AEDT before the main event at 7.35pm.
BRT CELEBRATE HISTORIC POLE
Just twelve months ago, the Blanchard Racing Team was a shambles as their two cars drove into each other in “unacceptable” scenes in Sydney.
But on Friday they were the toast of the Supercars world as their 2026 season got off to the best possible start with a lock out front row for race one at Sydney Motorsport Park.
James Golding, who was questioned over his move to BRT from PremiAir Racing in the off-season, made history as the first Gen3 era driver to go 1.27.90 at the venue to secure pole position.
And the team’s joy rolled on as Aaron Cameron ensured it was 1-2 for BRT.
“It’s incredible,” Cameron said.
“I haven’t slept for a few days … to do that, it’s fricking awesome.
“To get 1-2, it just doesn’t happen.
“We had two cars drive into each other out of the pit exit (in 2025) … we were nowhere and slow as hell!
“To come here now and be quick as a team… I just love it. I can’t wait for the year. It’s a good place to start.”
It’s the first pole position win for BRT and just a second for Golding in his Supercars career.
“Oh mate, honestly I’ve got no words,” he said during the cheque presentation.
“Just absolutely incredible job by the whole team – obviously I get the joy to finish it off. But it goes down to all their hard work.
“Just want to thank everyone that has supported me along the way.
“I’ve had a few ups and downs – this is just the beginning of something solid so can’t wait.”
Fox Motorsport’s Garth Tander was in awe of what BRT produced in Sydney.
“Think about this qualifying session 12 months ago! These cars crashed into each other! They didn’t even qualify!” he said.
“How far has this team come in 12 months?”

“They have gone literally from last to first … and locked out the front row!” Chad Neylon added.
“Blanchard Racing’s first ever pole position … and it comes with a front row lock out. This is absolutely incredible.
“Doing it in fine style – smashing the lap record.”
It’s a Mustang 1-4 with Broc Feeney and Matt Payne on the second row.
Behind them sits Anton de Pasquale as the first Camaro, with Zach Bates alongside him.
Cam Waters, Will Brown, Thomas Randle and Andre Heimgartner round out the top 10.
Reigning champion Chaz Mostert will start from a shock 20th.
The opening race of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins at 7:50pm local time.
