The Roosters have announced gun forward Nat Butcher has signed a three-year extension to remain with the Tricolours until at least the end of 2027.

The 26-year-old has palyed 126 games for the Roosters since making his debut in 2016, having featured in the 2019 grand final.

“I’ve been part of the Roosters since I was 17 and it’s my home,” Butcher said in a club statement.

“We’ve got a great crew here and I love that everyone in the building is committed to the same goal, so I’m stoked that I’ll continue to be part of this club.”

Roosters coach Trent Robinson was also excited that Butcher will remain in a Tricolours jersey for years to come.

“Nat was the captain of our Under 20s side and it’s been terrific to watch him develop as a leader in our NRL squad over the years,” Robinson said.

“He is a man of high integrity on and off the field, and with Nat you know that he will apply himself to everything he does.

“So it’s great that he will continue to represent the Roosters in the coming years.”

Butcher was also recognised for his off-field educational achievements by being named in the NRL’s 2023 Academic Team of the Year.

RAIDERS FLYER JOINS TITANS

The Canberra Raiders have boosted their backline with the signing of Raiders flyer Harley Smith-Shields on a two-year deal from 2024.

“The Gold Coast Titans have added backline depth for the next two seasons, signing Canberra centre Harley Smith-Shields,” the Titans said in a statement.

Titans head coach Des Hasler says Smith-Shields will be a great addition to the Gold Coast side.

“Harley has shown he has a high level of football IQ and is looking for an opportunity to take his game to the next level,” he said.

“He adds to our outside back stocks and I’m confident he will be pushing to be part of our first grade squad on a regular basis.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the Gold Coast and are excited to see where he can take his football at the Titans for 2024 and beyond.”

The strike outside back has played 15 NRL games and was named the Raiders Rookie of the Year in 2021.

The Canberra junior was a prodigious talent in the club’s lower grades, but a season-ending knee injury kept him off the field in 2022.

He returned to play six NRL games for the Raiders last season, as well as starring for their NSW Cup side.

The 23-year-old will begin training with the squad this week.

Read on for every NRL player transfer.
