The 2024 Sakharov Prize laureates and representatives will be present at the press conference:
– Mr Edmundo González Urrutia, President-elect of Venezuela
– Mrs Ana Corina Sosa, daughter and representative of María Corina Machado, the leader of the Venezuela’s “Unity Democratic Platform”
The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday 17 December at 12.00 in the hemicycle in Strasbourg, after the press conference.
Interpretation will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Maltese.

Background
The European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize 2024 was awarded to María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced the 2024 laureates in the Strasbourg plenary chamber on Thursday 24 October.
