Scottie Scheffler started the final round of the PGA Championship bogey-birdie but dropped another another shot at the long par 3 sixth to sit at -10 a third of the way into the round, while a volunteer seized their opportunity to nab a souvenir from Rory McIlroy.
Australia’s Adam Scott is among Scheffler’s challengers, four shot back, as he is two-under for his round after 11 holes.
At one point, Scott was part of a group of nine players who scared second place at -6 after birding the par 5 10th to follow up earlier birdies at the fourth and seventh.

World No.1 Scheffler alleviated any early nerves caused by failing to get up-and-down to save par at the first at Quail Hollow by producing an excellent recovery shot from in the trees to set up a near 15 foot birdie putt at the second.
The two-time Masters champion’s lead extended to five shots after saving par from the sand at the par 3 fourth as Swedish veteran Alex Noren, playing alongside Scheffler, dropped his second shot of the day after also bogeying the 491-yard par 4 opener.
Many of Scheffler’s rivals in the top ten stumbled early, but Harris English has surged to -6 with the low of round of the day so far, a six-under par 65.

Jon Rahm, who yesterday sparked vigorous debate about how LIV prepares players for the majors, started his day with seven straight pars before making birdie at the eighth to move three shots back from Scheffler in outright second.
Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau is a shot back from Rahm after closing out his opening nine with birdies at seven and nine.
Australia’s Cam Davis is a further shot back -4 with five holes left to play, having made four birdies for his round but they have been offset by three bogeys.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy finished his tournament at +3 after a second successive round of 72, but it was the antics of a volunteer that drew the most interest from the world No.2’s round.
McIlroy went after the green off the tee at the 330-yard par 4 14th, which Scheffler incredibly eagled in the third round, but missed left and ended up in the water on his way to a bogey.
A volunteer saw that as the perfect time to secure themselves a memento, sticking his arm into the water to retrieve the ball and pocketing it.
