The Roosters have suffered an early-season blow with Spencer Leniu going down with a hamstring injury in the pre-game warm-up ahead of Friday night’s clash in New Zealand.
The representative forward was named to start in the front row but was a no show with reports he suffered a muscle injury before kick-off.

Blake Steep started the match at lock instead, with Salesi Foketi included on the six-man bench after playing in the NSW Cup earlier on Friday where he scored a late try in the 48-14 victory over the Warriors.
There are also concerns for off-season signing Tommy Talau who suffered a non-contact knee injury in reserve grade after scoring a try in each half.
“Grave concerns from the NSW Cup with Tommy Talau suffered a non-contact knee injury, the big fear is when there’s a knee injury and no contact,’’ Andrew Voss said in commentary.
The Roosters announced Talau’s signature in January, with head of recruitment Joel Carbone saying at the time that the versatile outside back’s addition offered “valuable depth and experience to our backline”.
“He’s a strong competitor who has shown he can perform consistently at NRL level, and we believe he’ll complement the talent we already have within our squad,” he added.
Talau has played 83 NRL games since making his debut in 2019, with stops at the Wests Tigers and Sea Eagles before linking up with the Roosters.
