Sydney Thunder star Chamari Athapaththu was left wondering how she didn’t bag herself a second wicket when she clean bowled the Brisbane Heat’s Jess Jonassen, only for the bails to remain intact.
The incident occurred on the second ball of the 19th over, with the Heat sitting at 7/137.

Jonassen looked to slog a Athapaththu delivery but completely whiffed at it as the ball smacked her off-stump.
But somehow the bails did not move.
Jonassen looked back in pure disbelief as Lady Luck was on her side as Athapaththu could scarcely believe she was robbed of a wicket.
One commentator was left baffled as replays showed the ball clearly hitting the stump.
“If that has hit the stumps and not dislodged the bails, those bails are made of lead,” the commentator said.
“Oh, come on. Come off it. Brisbane Heat, check their bags for super glue.”
Code Sports reporter Lachlan McKirdy believed the incident was one that “simply shouldn’t happen.”
Jonassen’s luck didn’t last much longer as she departed with the first ball of the final over as the Heat ultimately ended their innings 8/160.
