Australia has seemingly survived a big World Cup injury scare after Mohamed Touré limped off the pitch nine minutes into Norwich City’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday this week.
Touré, who had scored five goals in four games since joining the Championship side from Danish club Randers, sustained a groin injury — raising fears it could impact his involvement in this year’s tournament, starting in June.
Norwich boss Philippe Clement shed further light on the injury on Friday, saying Touré would be sidelined for between one and two months.

“He has a muscle injury,” said the Belgian boss.
“He will be out four to six weeks. It’s a disappointing one, of course, because it’s also one nobody saw coming so fast in the game.
“He was in full speed and then in a duel out of balance, so it’s really unlucky one, and we need to move on.”
While it means Touré will likely to miss Australia’s World Cup send-off friendlies against Cameroon and Curacao in March-April, it means Tony Popovic should still have his emerging attacking weapon back fit for the tournament itself.
The 21-year-old striker pulled up chasing a long ball over the top, and Australians fans will be hoping the injury is on the minor end with the Socceroos’ World Cup campaign beginning in Canada in roughly three-and-a-half months.
Norwich won 2-0 against the already relegated Owls at Carrow Road.
