Socceroos captain Mat Ryan has finally found a new club ahead of next year’s World Cup, signing a one-year deal with Spanish side Levante.
The 33-year-old had been looking for a club since leaving French side Lens in May after a short-term contract ended.
Needing to find game time to push his claims for to make a fourth World Cup and remain the Socceroos’ No.1 stopper, Ryan has returned to Spain having previously played for Real Sociedad and Valencia.

Levante won promotion to La Liga last season, and Ryan will aim to be the team’s starting goalkeeper.
Ryan had found himself down the pecking order in the national team under new coach Tony Popovic before recently reclaiming the captaincy and the starting jersey on the back of his performances in France with Lens.
The Socceroos have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.
They will play New Zealand in friendlies in Canberra and Auckland next month before a host of matches in the US on the way to the World Cup.
