After mutually parting ways less than two months ago, Javon Freeman-Liberty is officially returning to the Brisbane Bullets.

The club announced that the 25-year-old guard will rejoin the roster as the replacement for recently released Jaylen Adams. The move is surprising given the short turnaround since his departure on October 9, when both parties agreed to part ways so Freeman-Liberty could return to the U.S. to recover from a hamstring injury and prioritise his mental health. It’s rare to see a team re-sign a player so soon after a mutual exit, which makes this reunion all the more notable.
Freeman-Liberty has previously been linked to bouts of homesickness – most notably during his time with Manisa Basket in Turkey’s BSL, where he played only two games before returning home. His initial exit from Brisbane appeared to follow the same pattern, but his willingness to return to Australia effectively puts those concerns to rest.
In his brief two-game stint with the Bullets earlier this season, Freeman-Liberty averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 33.4 minutes – production that made him an obvious target for a reunion once Adams departed.
With the addition of new import Terry Taylor and the return of Freeman-Liberty, the Bullets suddenly look far more competitive. Sitting just a few wins outside the top six, Brisbane now has a genuine opportunity to push for a play-in spot – something the club hasn’t achieved in several seasons.
