Port Adelaide has reportedly pulled out of the race for Brodie Grundy, with Sydney now in pole position to land the Demons ruckman – but Port already appear to have settled on a new target.
According to SEN’s Tom Morris, the Swans loom as Grundy’s “near-certain” next home as the dual All-Australian prepares to relocate to the Harbour City a year after being traded from Collingwood.
It comes after the Herald Sun reported, in the clubs’ respective meetings with the 29-year old, the Sydney lifestyle and opportunities outside the game appealed more than Port’s football-orientated pitch.

That report stated while the Power’s bid focused heavily on what Grundy could provide for them on field, the Swans leaned more on outside interests.
It’s believed Grundy is keen to embrace the Sydney lifestyle away from the Melbourne spotlight — where he’s been one of the most talked about AFL players after signing a marquee seven-year deal with the Magpies
The Herald Sun also reported Grundy’s partner, Rachel, is able to relocate her work as a physio working in intensive care and emergency units.

Grundy is contracted for four more seasons until 2027, with Collingwood reportedly chipping in part of his lucrative salary.
It now leaves the Swans, who hold picks 11, 22, 30, 41 and 49 in the upcoming draft, to broker a deal with Melbourne.
As for Port Adelaide, Morris revealed the club has turned its attention to out-of-contract Bulldog Jordon Sweet, having tabled a three-year deal to try and lure the ruckman.
The Bulldogs confirmed the 25-year-old South Australian requested a trade to Port Adelaide on Wednesday.
The Power have also been linked with moves for Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea and Essendon’s Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.
