Dan Ginnane believes the NRL should have come down harder on the Panthers as a result of the saga involving their trainer Corey Bocking, who ran in front of Titans halfback Jayden Campbell as he was about to take a kick at goal.
The Panthers were fined $50,000 and Bocking copped a five-game ban from the NRL.
Ginnane found it interesting that the punishment wasn’t just due to the incident in Saturday’s game, but also because Panthers trainers have been involved in six separate on-field indiscretions since 2021.

“I found the NRL yesterday fascinating,” Ginnane said on NRL 360 on Wednesday night.
“Going back to the six incidents.
“So they have basically said this is systematic.
“They’re going, this is six incidents going back to 2021.”
Ginnane felt the fine of $50,000 was nothing for a club like the Panthers, who have the backing of a very financially successful leagues club.
“Then $50,000 is irrelevant,” he added.
“It should have been perhaps something like a suspended sentence.
“You do this again, because we think you’re doing this on purpose, is basically what the NRL is saying, we’ll take points off you. we’ll take a game off you.
“They’re the ones that said, we think this has gone on too long.
“They’re the ones that said, six incidents in five years.
“Whereas the rest of us are thinking, maybe this bloke just had a bad moment.”

Ginnane believes the sanctions were far too lenient.
“The punishment was a typical NRL punishment,” he said.
“Looks big, it’s a wet lettuce leaf.
“The money does not matter.”
The Panthers will take on the Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Friday night.
Penrith have won eight games in a row, as they continue their push to finish in the top four.
