Compounding Parramatta’s horror loss to the Tigers on Sunday was the news that halfback Mitch Moses won’t be back to help save the sinking ship anytime soon.
Moses is sidelined with a stress reaction in his foot, which was discovered late in the pre-season. It was the same foot he fractured last season which caused him to miss two months of football.
Speaking on Channel 9 prior to the Eels’ 32-6 loss to the Tigers, Moses revealed the injury is healing slowly, hence the time frame for his return has changed.

When Moses wasn’t named for Parramatta’s Round 1 clash, the initial prognosis was that he’d return within six weeks. Now, it’s looking more likely the star half will be out until Round 8 or 9, potentially longer.
“It’s taking its time. It doesn’t get much blood flow down there. It’s a bit frustrating,” Moses said.
“It is what it is. I can’t control that. I can only control what I’m doing for the boys, helping out at training.
“I’m not too sure, hopefully it’s another five or six weeks … hopefully I’m back sooner rather than later.”

The update is a massive blow to the Eels, who look listless without their leading man.
Given how bad the Eels have performed across the park in the opening two rounds, it’s likely they’d still be winless with Moses in the line up.
However it’s fair to say that the halves pairing of new recruit Ronald Volkman and Dylan Brown have failed to spark much creativity so far.
