A host of Australia’s Ashes-winning Test stars are set to begin returning to the BBL from January 10 onwards, with three players not taking part in the competition.
Scott Boland (Melbourne Stars), Travis Head (Adelaide Strikers) and Cameron Green (uncontracted) are the trio who are set to sit out of the BBL.
They played in all five Ashes Tests and “will begin a short period of recovery” with Green currently unsigned as he manages his workloads after returning from back surgery.

The remaining Ashes squad members are all available for selection from Saturday onwards, with the likes of Alex Carey, Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja rejoining their teams.
However, both Michael Neser (Brisbane Heat) and Mitch Starc (Sydney Sixers) will be afforded a short break before they return between January 14 and 16.
“The KFC BBL|15 season has delivered outstanding cricket and incredible fan experiences, watched by record crowds and broadcast audiences so far,” BBL general manager Alistair Dobson said.
“We are delighted to have number of Australian Test players entering the competition from tomorrow night off the back of their NRMA Insurance Ashes series victory, and thank them for their commitment to the BBL.”
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia’s general manager Ben Oliver explained the group will be hoping to begin preparation for the T20 World Cup.
“We are immensely proud of the Australian Men’s Test team and their outstanding result in winning the Ashes,” he said.

“A five-Test match Ashes series is intense. The players and staff deserve great credit for their preparation and management which has enabled sustained performance through what is a full international schedule.
“We have worked with each player on individual plans to best support recovery from the Ashes and preparation for upcoming international commitments including the ICC T20 World Cup.
“Wherever possible, this includes players representing their clubs in the ongoing KFC BBL|15 season over the coming fortnight.”
