Brisbane forward Zac Bailey has lit up the MCG with a first quarter to remember in the 2023 grand final.
While all the talk pre-game was who could stop Lion Charlie Cameron, it was Bailey who put on a 15-minute masterclass to give his side the lead against Collingwood on Staurday.
Bailey’s first goal came from a brilliant set play with big man Oscar McInerney. His second goal was even more spectacular as he firstly put on a big smother, shrugged a tackle, stepped Mason Cox and then snapped truly.

“Great connection from Oscar McInerney – Zac Bailey this is what he’s known for,” commentator Luke Hodge said.
“He can kick some very important goals.
“Just the timing with the hit of Oscar McInerney – such an important goal.”
While Bailey’s running effort from the boundary 45m out was great, his second goal had the Lions’ faithful on their feet.
With his side down by two points late in the term, Bailey got the smother on Cox on the 50m arc, and then pounced.
He shrugged off the Nathan Murphy tackle, stepped Cox and then nailed a ripping snap.
“He breaks loose – miracle goal from Bailey!” commentator Brian Taylor said.
“That will fire them up! Look at them explode at the MCG!”
“Mason Cox just wasn’t aware of him,” Matthew Richardson added.
“What about the finishing!”
Hodge was full of praise for Bailey’s ability to absorb the pressure and back himself in.
“The composure not to bomb away … excellent goal from Bailey.”
Bailey’s second goal ignited a push and shove, after it was Collingwood who had kicked the first two goals of the match.
