BAKER’S TRADE WISH FULFILLED AS BLUES SET TO LAND PRIZED PICK
Carlton is set to land Pick 3 in a trade with West Coast, in a move that will pave the way for the Eagles to acquire Richmond’s Liam Baker.
The Blues will reportedly receive the No. 3 draft pick in exchange for Pick 14, forward Matt Owies, and multiple other picks, per AFL Media journalist Cal Twomey on Monday night.
Twomey reports West Coast is expected to on-trade No. 14 to Richmond for Baker, who will get his Eagles wish after his mooted move was momentarily in flux.
Carlton also currently holds the No. 12 choice; a pick expected to also be included in the package sent to the Eagles.
Seven reporter Ryan Daniels said Owies’ injection into the prospective deal — along with Picks 12 and 14 — ‘put it back on the table’.
The in-limbo 27-year-old forward, who is still unsigned at Carlton despite kicking 60 goals in the past two seasons, recently met with the Eagles.
Daniels added that additional draft selections would be ‘sprinkled in’.

Richmond and Gold Coast are reportedly nearing agreement on a trade price for rebounder Daniel Rioli.
After days of back and forth about whether or not the Suns would have to include a sweetener on top of Pick 6 for the contracted defender, Twomey reports Gold Coast will throw in the No. 23 selection.
The clubs are also expected to exchange late selections as the Suns seek to add to their draft points tally in anticipation of matching an early rival draft bid for Academy graduate Leo Lombard.
A prospective win for both sides, the Tigers add two more valuable draft choices, and the Suns get their elite halfback.
If trades with West Coast and Gold Coast indeed go official on Tuesday, Richmond will hold Picks 1, 6, 20, 23 and 24 inside the top-25, before a likely deal with Fremantle adds two more first-rounders to the Tigers’ 2024 draft arsenal before Wednesday’s trade period deadline.
The Suns, having already added free agent Elliott Himmelberg and on the doorstep of adding Rioli, also continue in their quest to acquire Collingwood flanker John Noble — but talks of a three-club, seven-pick, five-player trade have hit a wall.
