The 40th edition of the AFL National Draft is upon us, with another set of up-and-coming young guns prepare to begin their new life as a professional footballer.

Richmond’s Sam Lalor was taken with the prized No.1 selection of last year’s draft, but in 2025, West Coast will have first dibs for the second time in three years.

The Eagles at this stage are also set to use Pick No.2, although it looks likely at least one bid for a rival Academy player will come before they can freely use their second selection.

Gippsland product Willem Duursma is expected to be taken with West Coast’s first pick, with Cooper Duff-Tytler expected to be the second player who joins him out west under Andrew McQualter.

Fox Footy draft expert Ben Waterworth has published his annual, comprehensive ‘Phanton Draft’, which you can read here to see who your club is most likely to take ahead of Wednesday night.

From where to watch, what time the draft starts and the picking order from start to finish — here’s everything else you need to know ahead of the 2025 AFL National Draft!

HOW AND WHEN TO WATCH

The only place to watch all the draft picks as they’re announced on TV is Fox Footy and Kayo from 7pm AEDT on Wednesday, November 19 and Thursday, November 20.

Conversely, you can also follow the AFL draft live on foxfooty.com.au, with detailed analysis of every pick from every club, along with Fox Footy’s social media channels.

The pre-season and rookie draft will be held on Friday afternoon, the day after the completion of the national draft. Intriguingly though, six pre-season drafts in the last decade have not been held, however it looks set to be held this off-season for two-time Lions premiership hero Callum Ah Chee.

WHAT IS THE AFL DRAFT 2025 ORDER?

See below, featuring the pick, club and a selection’s recent history on the trade table.
