Twenty Australians will go under the hammer for next week’s IPL Auction, with 30 overseas stars set to be snapped up for the 19th edition of the glamorous T20 tournament.
All-rounder Cameron Green will be one of the most in-demand players at Tuesday’s auction, while compatriots Steve Smith, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Spencer Johnson will also be up for grabs.

Green, who went for INR 17.5 crore (approx. $AU3.15m at the time) in the 2023 auction, and Fraser-McGurk (INR 9 crore, $AU1.65m last season with Delhi) will be in the first set of batters sold.
Both have set their base price at the highest level, 2 crore (approx. $AU340,000).
Green cannot improve on his 2023 price with a new rule setting overseas players at a maximum of INR 18 crore (currently approx. $AU3m). Nonetheless, he’s still expected to fetch one of the biggest paydays of the night that could see him earn that maximum amount.
That is despite a bungle by his manager who registered Green as a batter only.
“I’ll be good to bowl,” Green said on Sunday.
“I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box.
“It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end.”
Elsewhere, Australian superstar Glenn Maxwell has announced he withdrew his name from the IPL Auction earlier this month.
A total of 1390 players registered for the auction, but only 350 players have been shortlisted for the event. The full list can be seen here.
