But Brodie Grundy got a taste of both the good and bad of Sydney on Thursday, making a spectacular debut for the Swans at the SCG – and copping a gruesome injury before the game.
The ruckman, who was best on ground in Sydney’s win over Melbourne, made the move up from the AFL capital this off-season and has been enjoying the relative anonymity plus warmer weather.

Yet Grundy also experienced the dangers of going for a dip at Bondi Beach when he was stung by a bluebottle jellyfish behind his ear during his pre-match swim.
Grundy shared on his Instagram page a photo of the bright red, enormously swollen ear.
“My inner circle saw that – it’s absolutely the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Don’t wish that upon anyone,” he said on the ground post-match.
Yet that won’t be stopping him from continuing to enjoy the Harbour City’s natural features.
“We’ll go back to the well. I’ll be up bright and early,” he said on Fox Footy.
“You can’t get deterred too much.”
