Needing 282 to win at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, Australia completed the chase with 21 balls to spare.
Young gun Phoebe Litchfield starred with 78 off 89 balls while veteran Ellyse Perry made 75 off 72 to set-up the big win in a huge second-wicket partnership.

Tahlia McGrath blasted a quickfire, unbeaten 68 off 55 balls while Beth Mooney’s 42 off 47 helped Australia across the line.
The only bigger chase in the history of women’s ODIs was Australia’s 289 to beat New Zealand at North sydney Oval in 2012.
Earlier, Jemimah Rodrigues starred for the hosts with 82 off 77 balls helping India to a first innings total of 8-282.
Australia’s chase started poorly with Alyssa Healy (0) out inside the first over for a duck before Litchfield and Perry wiped away the early India advantage.
The next ODI in the series is on Saturday (7pm AEDT).
