Foxfooty.com.au understands lockdown defender Hugh Bond has been withdrawn from Matthew Nicks’ side due to illness, replaced in the side by winger Chayce Jones.
Meanwhile, Rankine’s return signals the end of an eight-month hiatus since the last time he and Josh Rachele played in the same Crows side, on July 6 – with the latter then sidelined by a knee injury during the back end of last year.
For the Bulldogs, who recalled Jordan Croft for Will Lewis, Luke Beveridge’s side hasn’t ever beaten Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval – and hasn’t won at the venue since the 2021 preliminary final against Port Adelaide.
